How we are governed
Community Ride Hub is set up as a not-for-profit company, with a Board, a clear document hierarchy, and a stated commitment to closing known gaps.
Legal form
Community Ride Hub is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee. We intend to provide transport for our members and for the people referred to us by partner organisations, under a section 19 permit once issued. We are not a taxi or private hire operator and we will not sell journeys to the general public. We will recover the cost of the journeys we provide, and any surplus will be reinvested in the service.

Not-for-profit, and not distributed
Community Ride Hub cannot distribute surplus to owners or shareholders. Any surplus we make from recovering the cost of journeys is put back into the organisation — into vehicles, training and the service itself. Community Ride Hub is not currently a registered charity, and does not describe itself as one; we intend to apply for charitable status once we meet the criteria for it.
Our Board
Community Ride Hub is led by a small founding Board with named responsibilities. Larone Laing is Founding Director and Chief Executive. Sheldon Laing holds responsibility for Financial Oversight and for Safeguarding and Compliance. Appointing an Independent Director is a near-term priority for the Board, and we are stating that openly here rather than leaving it unmentioned.
Our document hierarchy
Community Ride Hub's governance runs through a clear hierarchy of documents, from the highest level down to day-to-day forms:
- Articles of Association — our constitution as a company
- Governance Framework — how the Board and organisation are structured
- Board Charter and Delegation of Authority — who may decide what
- Policies — covering safety, safeguarding, data protection and more
- Forms and records — the day-to-day evidence that policies are followed
Permit position
Community Ride Hub is preparing to operate under a section 19 community transport permit. Until that permit is issued, we make no reference to a permit number and provide no public service. This page will be updated the moment that changes.
