Mission, vision and values
Connecting people to the places, opportunities and communities that matter.
Our mission
What Community Ride Hub exists to do.
To connect people and communities through safe, accessible and dependable transport — removing barriers to mobility and helping people live more independent, connected and fulfilling lives.
Community Ride Hub exists to help people reach the healthcare, education, employment, social activities, community services and everyday opportunities that matter to them. We aim to reduce isolation, increase independence and make transport more accessible by designing services around the needs of the communities we serve.
Our vision
The future Community Ride Hub wants to help create.
A future where transport is never a barrier to belonging, independence or opportunity.
We want to see communities where people can stay connected, participate fully in everyday life and reach the services, opportunities and relationships that matter to them — regardless of age, disability, mobility, income or access to conventional public transport.
Our vision is for community transport to become an integral part of stronger, more connected communities: working alongside local people, councils, health and care services, schools, voluntary organisations and other community partners to help close gaps in transport provision.
As Community Ride Hub develops, we want to demonstrate that community transport can be safe, accessible, dependable and responsive to local need, while using technology thoughtfully to make journeys easier to arrange, services easier to coordinate and resources more effectively used.
At the centre of that vision will always be people — the passengers who rely on transport, the drivers and volunteers who deliver it, and the communities and organisations that help make it possible.
What guides Community Ride Hub
Our mission defines why we exist and what we are here to do.
Our vision describes the future we want to help create.
Our values guide the way we make decisions, work with people and serve our communities.
Together, they provide the foundation for how Community Ride Hub develops as a community transport organisation.
Our values
Six principles. One continuous commitment to the communities we serve.
Community Ride Hub means working together and staying connected.
Community represents cooperation and doing things with people rather than simply for them.
Ride reflects the journeys that help people take part in everyday life. Hub represents the connections between the people who use our services, the people who deliver them and the organisations we work alongside.
That thinking shapes six values — The Community Ride Hub Way — that guide how we develop and operate.
The Community Ride Hub Way
Community comes first. Open and inclusive. Listen and learn. Opportunity for everyone. Ownership and accountability. Partnership makes us stronger.
C — Community comes first
We start with the needs of the communities we serve. Community Ride Hub exists for community benefit. We want local people to have a meaningful voice in how services are developed, improved and delivered — listening locally and designing around genuine need rather than assumptions.
O — Open and inclusive
Transport should help people participate, not create another barrier. We want Community Ride Hub to be welcoming and accessible — in vehicles, information, communication, how journeys are arranged and how people feel when travelling with us. Every passenger is treated as an individual, with dignity and fairness.
L — Listen and learn
We listen before we act — and keep learning after we do. Passengers, carers, drivers, volunteers, communities and partners often understand the challenges best. Feedback should come back around the loop and influence what happens next.
O — Opportunity for everyone
Mobility creates opportunity. A journey can mean an appointment, education, work, family, an activity or simply remaining part of everyday community life. We want transport to increase people's choices rather than limit them.
O — Ownership and accountability
We take responsibility for the trust placed in us. Safety, safeguarding, reliability and responsible governance are not optional. When something goes wrong, we acknowledge it, learn from it and put it right.
P — Partnership makes us stronger
Community transport works best when people work together. We build relationships with local people, community organisations, councils, health and care services, schools and voluntary partners — complementing what others already do well rather than unnecessarily duplicating it.
Where we are today
Community Ride Hub is currently developing its community transport model and building the partnerships, systems and operational foundations needed to deliver services safely and responsibly. Passenger services have not yet launched.
