Our story

Community Ride Hub was founded because too many people struggle to access transport that is affordable, reliable and safe.

Why Community Ride Hub was founded

Community Ride Hub was founded on a simple observation: too many people struggle to access transport that is affordable and reliable, and that gap falls hardest on people who are already at risk of being left behind. Community Ride Hub's founding aim is to make transport accessible for everyone who needs it, and to use modern technology thoughtfully, so that the service we build is safer, more efficient and more dependable than it would otherwise be.

The problem

Public transport does not reach everyone equally. Some people cannot use a bus or train because of a disability or long-term health condition. Some are older and find getting about harder than it used to be. Some are families without a car, and some simply live somewhere the network barely serves. For all of these groups, an unreliable or non-existent transport option is not an inconvenience — it is a barrier to appointments, education, work, and the everyday contact with other people that keeps someone from becoming isolated.

  • Older people who find public transport difficult to use
  • Disabled people who need accessible vehicles or extra support to travel
  • Families without access to a car
  • People living in areas poorly served by public transport

The founding principle

Community Ride Hub's founding principle is straightforward: safe, reliable, accessible transport for the people who need it most. Every decision about vehicles, drivers, routes and technology is meant to be tested against that principle before anything else.

Where we are now

Community Ride Hub is at an early, deliberately careful stage. We are putting governance, safety standards, training and systems in place before we open any service to members, because getting this right matters more than moving quickly. We would like, in time, to grow into the kind of organisation that communities across the country can rely on — but that is a direction of travel, not a promise of scale or a date.
