Accessibility statement
Many of the people Community Ride Hub exists to serve are older, disabled, or visually impaired. An inaccessible website would work against our own purpose.
What we aim for
We aim for this website to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 at Level AA. This is a genuine target we build and test against, not a form of words. It includes, among other things: correct use of headings and landmarks; full keyboard operability with a visible focus indicator; colour and text that meet the required contrast ratios; forms with properly labelled fields and clear error messages; and a site that remains usable at 200% zoom without content being cut off or overlapping.
What we know does not yet conform
Known gaps
We would rather tell you what is wrong than claim full conformance we have not verified.
- A full manual accessibility audit — including screen reader testing with real users, and testing at 400% zoom — has not yet been completed. Audit date and findings to follow.
- Some published governance documents may currently exist only as PDF rather than as an accessible HTML page. Where a document is essential to using our services — such as eligibility or how to complain — we aim to make the same information available as an HTML page, not only as a PDF.
- Some content on this site describes services that are still being designed, and language, structure or components may still be refined as we complete accessibility testing before launch.
Alternatives if something is not accessible to you
If a page, document or form on this site is difficult for you to use, please contact us and tell us what you need in another format — for example, over email, in plain text, or read aloud over the phone once a telephone number is published. We currently do not have a published telephone number — see telephone contact route on our contact page — so email is the most reliable way to reach us in the meantime.
How to report an accessibility problem
If you find a problem not listed above, or something on this site simply does not work for you, please tell us. Email hello@communityridehub.org.uk with "Accessibility" in the subject line, describe the page and the problem, and let us know what device, browser or assistive technology you were using if you can. We will look into it and let you know what we find.
Enforcement
The Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018 do not apply to Community Ride Hub directly, as we are not a public sector body. We are, however, a service provider under the Equality Act 2010 and are committed to making reasonable adjustments to how we provide information, which is why we treat this statement as a real commitment rather than a formality.
