How we help

Community transport built around people. Safe, accessible and affordable journeys for those who may find ordinary buses, trains or other public transport difficult to use.

Not open for booking yet

Our services are not open for booking yet. We are currently preparing our vehicles, systems, drivers, partnerships and funding so that we can launch responsibly.

What Community Ride Hub is here to do

Being unable to use ordinary public transport should not mean being unable to take part in everyday life.

Community Ride Hub is being developed to help people make journeys that matter — whether that means getting to the shops, seeing friends and family, attending an appointment, reaching a day centre, going to school or taking part in a community activity.

We are not a taxi company and we are not being designed as an on-demand commercial transport service.

Depending on the service, journeys may be available through:

  • Community Ride Hub membership
  • Referral from an organisation or professional
  • A school, council, health or social care arrangement
  • A community organisation or group booking
  • Another approved partnership with Community Ride Hub

Explore the services below to see how each part of Community Ride Hub is intended to work.

Our proposed services

  • Community Ride Hub Connect

Getting ready — not bookable yet

Our main community door-to-door transport service for members who find ordinary public transport difficult to use. Membership contributions and journey charges have not been set.

    Community Ride Hub Connect →

  • Community day trips and outings

Getting ready — not bookable yet

Shared trips that give members the opportunity to get out, meet other people and enjoy places they may otherwise find difficult to reach — such as shopping outings, seaside visits, community events, gardens and attractions.

Community day trips and outings →

  • Day centres and social care

    Partnership discussions

Regular and planned transport for people attending day centres, supported activities and other social care services, developed with care organisations, local authorities and support teams.

Day centres and social care →

  • Health and NHS journeys

    Partnership discussions

Community transport for some health-related journeys where ordinary public transport is difficult and another appropriate patient transport service is not available. Not a replacement for emergency ambulances or NHS Patient Transport where those are required.

    Health and NHS journeys →

  • Home-to-school and SEND transport

    Partnership discussions

Safe and consistent transport for children and young people who need additional support getting to and from school. Normally arranged with councils, schools or other responsible organisations rather than booked like a taxi.

    Home-to-school and SEND transport →

  • Accessible Group Transport

    Planned case by case

Accessible vehicles for community organisations, voluntary groups, clubs and other eligible organisations that need to travel together — planned in advance around passenger needs and the purpose of the journey.

    Accessible Group Transport →

  • Commissioned and partnership services

    Looking for partners

Transport developed with councils, NHS and health organisations, schools, charities and community organisations — helping fund journeys people need while keeping Community Ride Hub sustainable for the wider community.

    Commissioned and partnership services →

  • Training and workforce development

    In development

Training for Community Ride Hub drivers, volunteers and team members in passenger assistance, safeguarding, disability awareness, accessibility, safety and professional driving — and, in time, for other community organisations.

    Training and workforce development →

  • Vehicle accessibility

    Being planned

What support people can expect before they travel — including wheelchair users, limited mobility, walking aids, carers, assistance dogs and passengers who may need extra time or support. Depends on the vehicle and the journey.

Not sure which service applies to you?

You do not need to understand the whole Community Ride Hub service structure before getting in touch.

Our Who we help page explains the people and organisations Community Ride Hub is being developed for, the kinds of journeys we expect to support and what may happen if another organisation or transport service would be more appropriate.

Help shape Community Ride Hub

Community Ride Hub is still being built, which means the people and organisations who may use it have an opportunity to help shape what comes next. Register your interest, or get involved by volunteering, driving, partnering or supporting community journeys.
